What is Defrag Ohio?
Defrag Ohio is a dynamic business and education network, based in Cleveland, focusing on next generation opportunities in the creative digital media industry.
Defrag Ohio is engaged in four areas: (1) video games and the application of gaming to education; (2) modeling, animation, robotics, simulation and advanced visualization; (3) the application of emerging on-line collaboration tools -- wikis, weblogs, and social network maps -- to business development in creative digital media; and, (4) marketing applications of digital media.

Defrag Ohio is partnering with Near-Time a leading Web 2.0 firm based in North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, to extend Defrag collaborations on line. Using advanced collaboration technologies, Defrag Ohio will quickly become Ohio's most advanced network of digital media professionals, educators and entrepreneurs. Over 200 professionals have participated in the Defrag Ohio activities since the inaugural conference.
The Near-Time Partnership: Pathway to Sustainability

The Starting Point: Gatherings
I-Open, in partnership with FUTURE: Center for Design and Technology Transfer at the Cleveland Institute of Art, hosted Tuesdays@FUTURE, weekly civic forums. Civic forums are an integral part of the Open Source Economic Development process engaging civic, academic, government and business leaders in focused open conversations to identify new opportunities. Civic forum discussions explore cross disciplinary innovations in creative digital media.
In partnership with civic forum participants and partner regional art and technology organizations, I-Open organized the 2006 Defrag Cleveland conference targeting business development. The April Defrag Lorain conferenced focused on education and games.
Gatherings offer open interactive conversations; innovative research; exchange of practitioner working knowledge; interviews to discover emergent industry innovation; and best practices.

The Institute for Open Economic Networks is a non-profit economic development organization based in Ohio with a national reach.
